If you’re worried about the climate but a big fan of avocados, you may find yourself torn next time you’re needing that green fix. 

Some international restauranteurs and foodie influencers are cancelling avocados because of their enormous carbon footprint. 

They've even proposed a few alternative recipes for guacamole which sub in fava beans, broad beans and peas as a more eco-friendly alternative. 

Bruce Glover is owner of the Mexican Cafe in Auckland and joined Heather du Plessis-Alan to discuss whether avocados are out of fashion because they're bad for the climate.
