The events and exhibition industry is on its knees, with seemingly no willingness from the government to help it find safe ways to operate under the Covid level system.

Organisers and exhibitors want help from the government to develop a plan to allow them to hold events during and up to level 2.5 restrictions.

Brent Spillane, managing director of XPO Exhibitions, told Heather du Plessis-Allan that the industry has put together a plan with international partners as to how the industry could operate

He says that physical distancing, hygiene, environmental management, and contact tracing are all on the cards.

Spillane says they are battling to get any face time with Government officials.

"It is a plan we have been working on since March, and we think it is ready to present."

He says people can already congregate in shopping malls without the same safety levels that the sector is proposing.
