It's being suggested that Kiwis start thinking about their Christmas shopping a bit earlier than usual.
That's because gifts might be a bit harder to find and more expensive this year.
Infometrics' Principal Economist Brad Olsen told Heather du Plessis-Allan we’re going to have a big challenge this Christmas with the increased cost of goods, along with disruptions to shipping.
“Getting ahead of the curb this Christmas is going to be critical for households.”
He said shipping is the main factor behind increased costs.
Olsen said container prices are ten times more expensive than they were pre-pandemic.
