While the number of Covid-19 cases in New Zealand may be dropping, businesses are still bearing the brunt of the pandemic, effects that are set to continue for some time.

Many chief executives are at the pointy end of businesses right now, making big decision in order to navigate their companies around the Covid-19 pandemic and the recession.

But for one boss, her company experienced a sudden rise in workload while others were struggling to keep theirs up.

Socialites NZ CEO Wendy Thompson told Heather du Plessis-Allan the effect of Covid on her business has been "full on".

"Social media was up 60 per cent across the country, and we're dealing with tens of thousands of people everyday. Our workload massively increased, and a lot of clients had to change what they were doing very quickly."

Ms Thompson believes her company's work rose due to a rise in demand to connect online.

"[social media] At the end of the day it's all about connection, so everyone jumped online. So we're talking to each other, talking to our brand."
