The Government's trying to get Auckland's light rail back on track.
In a bid to better engage Aucklanders in the project, the Transport Minister has put together an establishment unit.
It has six months to talk with communities, provide cost estimates and funding options and decide the best mode and route.
The group will also consider whether light rail should be delivered by City Rail Link - or a new joint venture with Auckland Council.
It'll be led by a governance board, with an independent chair and local government, community and Maori representatives.
