One ethnic group is relieved a new Race Relations Commissioner has finally been appointed after it was announced Meng Foon will take over in August.
The job has been vacant since Dame Susan Devoy finished her term more than a year ago because of a legal challenge from an unsuccessful candidate.
Islamic Women's Council spokeswoman Anjum Rahman told Heather du Plessis-Allan they have felt the absence, especially since the Christchurch mosque attacks.
She says the organisation is looking forward to having an advocate again.
