There is little argument from New Zealand Apples and Pears CEO on the government's insistence the skilled seasonal workers being allowed into the country get the living wage of $22.10 an hour.

The Greens say all New Zealand workers doing the same job should get the same pay.

Employers will have to pay the workers a living wage of $22.10 an hour, pay them 30 hours' a week while they're in managed isolation for 14 days, and cover their isolation costs - estimated at $4472 a worker.

Apple and Pear CEO Alan Pollard told Heather du Plessis Allan the workers coming into the country are highly skilled and highly experienced, hence can command that sort of money.

"I would expect people doing the same job, with the same level of skill and experience, would have the same opportunity."
