And maybe we're ready to move even further, you know, back to normal with the exception of the border.
Under Level 1, as we understand it, we'd still be dousing ourselves in sanitiser all day, but hospitality businesses would at least have a chance.
The rules would be relaxed, larger gatherings would be back on and so forth.
When you follow the information updates day by day as I guess most of us have since way back in March when lockdown kicked in, it's abundantly clear that there is no community transmission.
In fact, that's been abundantly clear for weeks now.
When a new case has cropped up, it's been linked to a cluster we knew about, or to other infections which again, we knew the source of.
Right now, we have just 21 active cases of this very nasty disease.
In the whole of the South Island, 2 cases both in Canterbury.
And most regions of the North Island also have none.
Now, I've been on board all the way through and like most of us, I've played the game, stuck to the rules.
But when I hear stories of people struggling to keep going in parts of the country which aren't within coo-ee of a Covid case, I wonder what more we can achieve with these ongoing restrictions.
Yes, the PM is right about a balanced approach to avoid yo-yoing back to lockdown.
But is this balanced now to have the entire nation stumbling along with one hand tied behind its back when the few cases we have are known and contained?
