Head of audiology at Auckland University David Welch joins Tim Dower on Early Edition to talk about problems with young people's hearing.

Parents are being urged to limit their children's use of personal devices, particularly ones with in-ear headphones.

Welch says studies in the United States suggest hearing loss amongst young people has been consistent over the last 20 years.

He says there are plenty of factors that can influence hearing-loss such as Glue Ear and noise exposure from devices, but the "jury's still out".
