A group of Kiwi fire crews who have spent more than a month living in tents, battling the California wildfires will soon be in their own beds.
Thirty-five of them have been among 14,000 firefighters tackling the blazes and will be coming home tomorrow.
Support crew member Tony Groome has been in Redding, four hours north of San Francisco.
He told Tim Dower it's been a massive experience for everyone involved.
"We were doing roles from safety officer, looking after crews on the ground, looking after heavy machinery right through to looking after helicopter bases."
Groome says the fires the Kiwi crews have been working on are now pretty much contained.
