The Secular Education Network is backing a woman who says she was treated with hostility by a primary school because she was not a Christian.
Leader Tanya Jacob says when they called the school to check a staff member used a mocking tone of voice but a nicer tone when talking about participants of the Christian Living classes.
She says the Ministry of Education doesn't approve the religious instruction and it isn't part of the curriculum.
Jacob says parents have the right to opt their children out of religious classes.
"The easiest way to think about religious instruction is that it is what missionaries would tell young children."
