A landlocked farming community is hosting the quirkiest America's Cup fanzone in the country.
Emirates Team New Zealand's defence is due to begin in Auckland at 4pm, against Italian challenger Luna Rossa.
While Auckland's fan zones won't be able to screen the racing until the city moves to Alert Level One, those rules won't apply to another fan zone in the landlocked Northland township of Towai.
Organiser Shayne Porter told Tim Dower it will have lots of unusual events, like fence reel grinding.
Porter told Tim Dower festivities kick off on Saturday at 2.30pm, with fencing reel grinding, red sock throwing and quizzes.
He says there'll be a commentary by "Peter Montgumtree", plus meatpacks, a hangi and a country band.
