High burnout levels in medical and dental professions, leads to errors

There are high levels of burnout in the medical and dental professions.

New research reveals about half of doctors feel burnt out, meaning a high level of emotional stress and exhaustion.

Female doctors are more likely to suffer from burnout than their male colleagues.

Sam Hazledine, a doctor turned doctors' wellbeing campaigner told Kate Hawkesby burnout can be harmful to patients.

“Burnout leads to what’s called depersonalisation, which is an emotional disconnection from our patients and depersonalisation causes our doctors to make more errors.”
