Washington remains in uproar over what President Trump did or didn't reveal to the Russians.

While the President met with his Turkish counterpart Tayyip Erdogan amid simmering tensions with that country, one of his key advisers has reiterated that Mr Trump did nothing wrong in a meeting with Russia's foreign minister last week.

1News US Correspondent Rebecca Wright told Rachel Smalley national security adviser H.R. McMaster has confirmed some of the details of the Washington Post story, but said the President's conversation was wholly appropriate.

"He kind of had to do that because President Trump came out, once again, and undermined his spokesperson this morning on Twitter, saying he had an 'absolute right' to share that information, and he did it for 'humanitarian' reasons."
