A village of campervans has had to be set up for this year's Fieldays vendors.

The giant four-day agriculture event at Mystery Creek, in Hamilton, begins today.

Chief executive Peter Nation says a lot of the city's accommodation is being used for emergency housing and managed isolation facilities.

He told Kate Hawkesby it hasn't been an easy project setting up the village.

“Bringing 140-odd campervans in one convoy from Auckland to the Waikato and then taking them home takes a bit of manpower.”
