Mass gatherings are being discouraged, but there are different rules for schools.
Principals Federation president Perry Rush told Kate Hawkesby there are guidelines to follow if there's a case within a school community.
He says a school would immediately close, it would attempt to track the contact the student or staff member has had, and isolate all those affected.
"Following that procedure, a school would be able to re-open within 2-to-5 days."
Rush says there's been low attendance as some families with no symptoms are keeping their kids at home.
'School is an important place to be for students that don't need to self-isolate."
