It has been revealed our rest home staff are commonly hiding medication in food.

It's called Unauthorised Covert Administration.

And the report into it says staff are facing ethical concerns between respecting resident's wishes, and giving them their needed treatment.

The report’s co-author, Ngaire Kerse told Kate Hawkesby even though the report has a small sample size, it indicates the practice is commonplace.

“It’s hard to know exactly the extent, but the staff and the residents said everybody knew about this.”
