The White House will be overhauled before Joe Biden moves in, completely refurnished with the change of presidents.

Donald Trump has left the White House and Washington DC for a final time as commander-in-chief.

The Republican president departed the White House with his wife Melania, saying it had been a great honour to serve.

Martha Joynt Kumar is a Co-Founder and Director for the White House Transition Project. She told Kate Hawkesby the White House changeover from Donald Trump to Joe Biden has to happen quickly.

"This time it's even more demanding, as they have to do a deep-clean for any traces of the coronavirus. That will happen the moment Trump has left the White House."
