The Salvation Army is calling for the Government to make a multi-billion dollar investment in affordable housing.

Before the pandemic, 15,000 people were on the social housing list, with 1000 people living in motel units. 

Major Campbell Roberts told Kate Hawkesby it's only going to get worse, with people losing their jobs and having to move to other areas.

He says the Government could buy up developments that have fallen over due to Covid 19 to provide more social housing, and offer people rent to buy or share equity opportunities.
