Will Young will become New Zealand test cricketer number 280 in the first test against the West Indies in Hamilton tomorrow.

Long touted as one of the unluckiest players never to don a black cap in any format, the Central Districts batsman appears set to finally get his chance tomorrow.

He will open and Tom Blundell will drop to number six in place of B-J Watling who did not train with his injured hamstring.

Meanwhile, West Indies cricket captain Jason Holder has been presented with the “New Zealand illusion” when it comes to pitches.

The latest example comes courtesy of an emerald Seddon Park ahead of today’s first test of the series starting at 11am.

Holder’s done his homework and expects the pitch will flatten out.
