Employers are widely embracing new legislation which will allow victims of domestic violence to take unpaid leave.

From April next year, businesses will have to provide up to ten days leave to employees affected by domestic violence.

Shine spokeswoman Holly Carrington told Kate Hawkesby most employers are already well aware of domestic violence issues.

"A lot of businesses are already taking steps in this direction, a lot of businesses have already put in place special leave for victims."
