From a case model on ‘Deal or No Deal’ to a member of the royal family.
Meghan Markle has well and truly been thrown into a life full of glitz and glam, but also strict rules and regulations where she must now be in top form at all times.
So just how hard is it to walk, talk and live like a royal?
Grant Harrold is the former royal butler to Prince Charles and Camilla, and is dubbed the ‘Defender of Etiquette’.
He told Kate Hawkesby that Markle’s background will make it easy for her to adjust.
“She’s got to learn how to learn how to do things in a royal manner. As far as the public persona goes, she’s already got experience in that being an actress. She already can understand the do’s and don’t’s or public duty.”
Markle shouldn’t worry though – Harrold says the royals are very forgiving when it comes to royal proceed mistakes.
However, she should note that a lot of things are different to the United States - including table manners.
"There's certain things you do, certain things you don;t, you hold cutlery a certain way, you hold glassware a certain way. You even have a conversation a certain way."
