The largest international tech conference ever to be staged in New Zealand kicks off in Auckland today.
The hope is to pave the way for faster advances for the Kiwi economy.
The Digital Nations conference is a forerunner to the D 5 summit later this week, bringing together the world's most advanced digital nations.
Event organiser NZTech chief executive Graeme Muller told Kate Hawkesby what got us into the D 5 is things like the coding programme we have for kids in the classroom.
"We've just rolled it out into schools this year. The research that we were doing at Canterbury University, we actually create the coding courses for the UK Government. That's made us a bit of a standout in the way we are doing it."
