It's hoped the UK will follow France's lead in banning street harassment.

Around 450 fines have been issued since France outlawed it in August.

Now, two sisters Gemma and Maya Tutton, have gathered 100 thousand signatures calling for street harassment to be illegal in the UK.

Gemma Tutton told Kate Hawkesby it would be a powerful statement about a modern society to fine people for hurling abuse at women and underage girls.

Gemma says she was harassed for the first time when she was 11 years old.

She says two men followed her slowly in a van, laughed at her and made comments about her appearance.
