It's the calm before another storm in Hong Kong following yesterday's occupation of the city's legislative building.

Riot police had to force out hundreds of protesters who stormed and trashed the building.

Hong Kong correspondent Florence de Changy told Kate Hawkesby one day on, there's no sign of yesterday's unrest.

"Everyone is taking stock of what happened and kind of recovering, but it's; not clear yet what the plans are for the future as the crisis is not solved."

The clash has sparked fresh tensions between China and the west.

China and Britain have both condemned the protesters who stormed and trashed the building.

But Britain has warned China against imposing further controls on the freedoms of Hong Kong citizens, including the right to protest.

Correspondent Florence de Changy told Kate Hawkesby the UK has threatened China with "consequences" if it does so, but it's unclear what those consequences will be.

"No one really knows how far the foreign countries want to weigh in. There is much at stake."
