Taxpayer dollars won't be required for a new waterfront stadium in Auckland which may see the idea receive more support than ever.
That's the thought behind an Auckland Waterfront Consortium planning and funding the one-point-eight billion dollar build.
The consortium plans to test the feasibility of the project over the next 12 to 18 months, and will be asking the public for their thoughts to gauge support.
Stadium Consortium chairman Dave Wigmore told Kate Hawkesby he's confident the build of the stadium will go ahead.
"We think that the public support for it will be overwhelming that will encourage the political debate to continue.
