The Scottish National Party says it's clear Scotland wants independence.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is refusing to let Scotland hold another vote on the issue.
However, SNP councillor Christopher McEleny told Tim Dower Scotland strongly opposes Brexit, and his party won 48 of the 59 available seats.
He says in any other Western democracy that would be a mandate to pursue a policy.
"At the moment, the British government is acting in an undemocratic way.'
McEleny says Scotland has natural resources, a wealth of talent, and can stand on its own feet.
"It has more than enough potential to become an independent country within the European Union.
"A future with Boris Johnson, Brexit and Britain is a future many people in Scotland reject."
