There is hope from teachers that this new pay deal will pass. 

Teachers and principals at primary schools and area schools will be able to vote until next Tuesday, with results due by the end of the week.

The Government is putting an extra $217 million into the revised deal, making it now worth more than $1.4 billion.

Carl Pynenburg, a new entrants teacher at Wellington's Worser Bay School, told Kate Hawkesby his colleagues are optimistic.

"It's the most interest I've seen in an offer in the last 18 months.

"I think people are really interested. They want to know more. They are pretty interested in this one."
