A new support scheme is on the way for those who have lost their jobs due to Covid-19.
From June 8, people searching for work or re-training can receive $490 a week if they lost full time work and $250 for part time workers.
The government's also investigating a more permanent solution to sudden employment shocks.
Economist Cameron Bagrie told Kate Hawkesby it sounds like some sort of unemployment insurance scheme.
He says it's targeting the idea that if you lose your job, you have sufficient funds for a certain period, to help you get through those hard times and back into paid work.
