The debate on a sugar tax in New Zealand continues while a Californian city is reaping the benefits.
The city of Berkeley is three years into their soda tax and has seen a 50 per cent decrease in soft drink consumption.
Faculty director at UC Berkeley's School of Public Health, Kristine Madsen, told Kate Hawkesby most locals were in support of the tax.
"There really has been a groundswell of support and people recognise the harm of over consuming soda and other sugary beverages."
