New research is looking into how bullying in the workplace can impact employees' mental health.

Dr Bevan Catley from Massey University's investigating its impacts on depression, stress, burnout, and even musculoskeletal disorders.

He's said no one should go to work and come home worse than when they left.

Catley told Kate Hawkesby good employers care about their staff enough to take note of how people feel they're treated.

"Things like exit interviews, simply walking around as a manger [and] talking to your workforce, employment surveys, tracking your absence data, those are all good indications of the health of your workforce."
