Prince Philip won't be disappearing completely from public life.
After hours of intense speculation, it's been announced that the Duke of Edinburgh is retiring.
UK correspondent Ben Bland told Rachel Smalley the 95-year-old will still attend events of his choosing, like the opening of Parliament and Remembrance Day.
"The things he's going to step back from are lunches and dinners and some of the many charities. I think it's more than 780 charities that he's either patron, president or a member of."
British Prime Minister Theresa May's giving thanks.
"His contribution to the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and the wider world will be a huge benefit to us all for years to come."
