The Agriculture Minister says mistakes will be made when it comes to Mycoplasma bovis.
MPI's admitted that delays in tracing cattle around the country has enabled the disease to continue spreading.
It's meant that we have had situations where another 1100 properties have had to be contacted because follow up testing didn't happen fast enough.
Agriculture Minister, Damien O'Connor, told Kate Hawkesby it's something MPI has never dealt with before.
"Look, I am sure that we could all say that we could do things a little better in hindsight. It's never happened anywhere else in the world and in fact, we had to upscale the capability within MPI very, very quickly."
