In April this year "need for speed" man Phil Garrett attempted the New Zealand Land speed record on a road near Ashburton. 

Unfortunately, his bike blew up at 240km per hour going for the magical 330km per hour. 

In March/April of next year, Phil will attempt another motorcycle land speed record on a couple of options: a 1975 Kawasaki 1000cc and a 1984 Kawasaki 750.  

This morning Phil Garrett spoke with Lesley Murdoch on the All Sport Breakfast Canterbury.
