The public is divided over news that Housing New Zealand tenants will be reimbursed over meth contamination.
Tenants who were wrongly penalised for meth contamination in their state homes will also a formal apology, the agency confirmed today.Â
It comes several months after the Prime Minister's then Chief Science Adviser Professor Sir Peter Gluckman produced a report which said there was no evidence that third-hand exposure from methamphetamine smoking caused adverse health effects.
The news has been met with a mixed reaction by callers to Andrew Dickens.Â
Most were appalled by the decision, with some questioning why HNZ was compensating people who do not own their homes.Â
Others were more sympathetic, though were more concerned for landlords who had been affected and what the inaccurate meth testing has done to house prices.Â
