US President Donald Trump has threatened to end government payments to health insurers if Congress does not pass a healthcare bill.

In a Twitter message Mr Trump said: "if a new HealthCare Bill is not approved quickly, BAILOUTS for Insurance Companies and BAILOUTS for Members of Congress will end very soon"

His message came after Senate Republicans failed to repeal parts of the Affordable Care Act, former president Obama's signature healthcare bill, on Friday.
Trump has been adamant the Obamacare legislation would be repealed ever since he launched his initial campaign before he got into the White House.
