The bitter partisanship of the past two years has been on full display in the USA, just as President Donald Trump is to call for optimism and unity in his State of the Union address.
Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer seems to have triggered the latest Trump twitter outburst.
He said on the Senate floor that the president talks about unity in his annual addresses to the nation but "spends the other 364 days of the year dividing us."
Schumer also accused Trump of "blatant hypocrisy."
Minutes later, Trump tweeted that Schumer hasn't even seen the speech and is "just upset that he didn't win the Senate, after spending a fortune."
I see Schumer is already criticizing my State of the Union speech, even though he hasn’t seen it yet. He’s just upset that he didn’t win the Senate, after spending a fortune, like he thought he would. Too bad we weren’t given more credit for the Senate win by the media!
