Two men have been arrested for allegedly smuggling people across the English Channel and into the UK.

A 33-year-old Iranian and 24-year-old British man have been arrested in Manchester on suspicion of the smuggling.

Around 230 people, mostly Iranians, have reached the UK in small boats since the start of November.

UK correspondent Gavin Grey told Tim Dower some are crossing in tiny boats when conditions are bad.

"It's being hoped if the two are behind the smuggling, it will cut down the number of people trying to do the crossing."
