National's deputy leader is calling for Treasury's secretary to stand down while being investigated.
The State Services Commission will look into actions and decisions made by Gabriel Makhlouf after information was leaked about the Budget.
Paula Bennett says the Prime Minster and Finance Minister won't express confidence in him.
"This is one of our most senior public servants who earns hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, and I think it is prudent of them to stand aside while the investigation happens."
She says that if he had some integrity, he would stand down.
The Prime Minister refused to comment directly on Makhlouf's situation.
