Trade minister Todd McClay is open to the public being given more time to have their say on the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

Currently, people wanting to make a submission on Parliament's handling of the TPP have just four weeks to do so.

Mr McClay said it's important for the public to have the opportunity to comment, and the submission period is longer than the standing orders require.

But he said while it's a matter for Parliament's trade select committee, he's open to working with them to extend the period.

He said the Government will also run road-shows and hui around the country for the public and businesses to receive information and ask questions
