Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has described the deportation of Kiwis criminals from Australia as corrosive to our relationship when some of them have never set foot in this country.

Ardern was standing alongside her Australian counterpart Scott Morrison after talks in Auckland.

But Morrison made no apologies for the policy and gave no indication it'd change.

He said Australia seeks to manage the issues sensitively but at the same time it'll always be a country under his Government that treats the integrity of the immigration system very seriously.

In the past four years, about 1600 Kiwis have been deported from Australia.

With Britain recently announcing they will accept Hauwai rolling out 5G across the country, questions have been asked if New Zealand could change its mind.

Jacinda Ardern has backed the GCSB decision to ban Huawei from being involved in Spark's 5G rollout after a meeting with her Australian counterpart Scott Morrison.

The Prime Minister says the decision was made in the best security interests of this country and had nothing to do with our membership of the Five Eyes spy network of countries.

Ardern says both countries are part of the network, but New Zealand makes security decision independent of that association.

“It is now over to Spark to mitigate the risk the telecommunications giant is seen to pose.”
