The Prime Minister says MPs need to be held to a higher standard when it comes to sharing fake news.

National MP Judith Collins has been criticised yesterday for tweeting a link to an article from a website notorious for publishing false information.

She refused to apologise or delete the tweet when people on Twitter pointed out it was fake news. 

Jacinda Ardern says politicians, of all people, should know better.

"We need politicians to make sure that we maintain a standard that we don't disseminate misinformation. I think it's really important that people can have some faith in the news and information that we share and talk about in the public domain."
