The Green Party's not happy Select Committee hearings on controversial changes to intelligence laws have ended up happening behind closed doors.
Consideration of the law changes had been planned for a public session this morning but that ended up being cancelled.
Green Party Co-leader James Shaw said it compounds the concerns they have about the secrecy and lack of transparency the process is being conducted in.
"So I think it is critical with this piece of legislation, virtually above all else, to have maximum transparency."
SIS and GCSB Minister Chris Finlayson said it's a matter for the committee's chair to answer, but he maintains he's keen to get as much information out there as possible.
"That people take as much time as is required to make submissions and that all reasonable submitters be given an opportunity to a fair hearing."
