Green Party MP Jan Logie says the ACC requirement for victims of sexual violence to get further counselling creates stigmatisation and further victimisation.
Up to 14 hours of one-on-one therapy is available when someone lodges a sensitive claim with ACC.
MORE:Â Mental health diagnosis a barrier for sexual violence victims
To receive more treatment, they must first be diagnosed as having a mental illness.
The Green Party staged a demonstration at ACC offices in Auckland today to deliver a diagnosis of their own.
A group of around 20 demonstrators delivered signs to ACC stating 'Your Diagnosis' to represent their frustration over the current system.
Jan Logie says the current process discourages victims from getting help because they don't want a diagnosis of mental health to add to their abuse.
She says in 2009 ACC made a lot of changes that caused a lot of harm, and some people lost their lives as a result.
When presented with the issue, ACC Minister Nikki Kaye said she will meet with providers this week to discuss possible future options.
