New Zealand is about to receive a multi-million dollar public information campaign, designed to encourage Kiwis to get the Covid-19 vaccine.

The campaign will be rolled out in a number of stages and will assist New Zealanders to make an informed approach so that when the time comes, they feel ready to get a vaccination.

The initial phase will launch mid–February, and is set to cost $3 million. It’s likely that the second part of the campaign will launch in April. Both stages will be research-led and evidence-based.

The campaign will focus on instilling trust and confidence and building support for the country’s vaccine plan.

In January, Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins flagged a campaign was coming, as people can have vaccine hesitancy and they want to reassure people it’s safe.

It follows effective campaigns centred around the response during last year’s lockdowns and over the summer holidays.

Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield has previously stated that they want to see at least 70 percent of the population vaccinated - with an aspiration of hitting around 90 percent.
