2016 Local Government Election Coverage
"The atmosphere at the Cav is very chilled, people are sitting in the sun and having a few drinks, and of course taking a few photos with Vic Crone herself."
Vic Crone has announced she has been unsuccessful in her quest for the Auckland mayoralty.
"Thank you so much to all my supporters its been an incredible journey.
"I'm so humbled and so privileged with all the support I've had over the past year."
ACT leader David Seymour was supporting Crone today but he said Goff is a political professional who will be a good mayor.
He said at the moment unelected officials seem to be wielding more power than elected Auckland representatives.
"Phil's got huge experience. He's been a Cabinet minister for 15 years, which is an extraordinary amount of time. With a bit of luck he could deal to these guys and get them to serve the people of Auckland."
The Epsom MP said he's sick of half the cases coming into his electorate offices being about the Council.
The Herald's Cherie Howie is at Ponsonby bar, Golden Dawn, with supporters of Chloe Swarbrick.
"I think they get the feeling that she is someone who has a long way to go in her career and whatever she decides to do, whether it is politics or something else."
Goff has won the Auckland mayoralty with 179,206 votes, with 47.6 per cent of votes counted to date. His nearest rival Vic Crone received 105,413 votes.
Swarbrick earned a surprise third place with 26,474 votes.
