Water restrictions have been imposed at two popular Coromandel Peninsula holiday spots, as people are being urged to be conservation conscious during a warm and busy period.
Tairua and Whangamata have had sprinkler bans enforced by Thames Coromandel District Council.
That follows permanent restrictions in Matatoki (hose and sprinkler), Puriri (sprinkler) and Omahu (sprinkler).
The council says there are no restrictions yet in Thames, Coromandel, Matarangi, Whitianga, Hahei, Pauanui and Onemana, but water use is being reviewed daily.
"This summer we are experiencing hot, dry weather and tens of thousands of visitors to our district," the council said in a statement.
"Please be water smart. If everyone is careful with their use of water, it will lessen the need for more stringent restrictions through the busy holiday period."
