Tourism spend for Northland is estimated to be $1 billion dollars for the year to November, up eight-percent compared with the previous year.
The latest figures show international visitors spending is up 11-percent to $260 million and spending by Kiwi's visiting there rose seven percent to $766 million dollars.

Canterbury's tourism industry is also flourishing.
Figures show $3.4 billion dollars was spent in the year ending in November - up eight-percent compared to the year previous.
However, due to the timing of the statistics being gathered, it's still unclear what impact November's earthquake may have had.
