Remembering re-usable bags should be one of every shopper's New Year's resolutions this year.

Single use plastic bags are no longer available at Foodstuffs stores.

That includes New World, Pak'n Save, Four Square and Liquorland.

Foodstuffs spokesman Dominic Quin says a range of alternative bags will be available, including paper, multi-use plastic bags and fibre.

Countdown made the move in October 2018 after the Government confirmed it would ban single-use plastic bags by mid-2019.
