A rally to show opposition to the government's apparent intention to sign the United Nations Global Compact on migration is being held in Auckland this afternoon.

It's being held in Aotea Square at 2pm and people attending are asked to wear fluoro vests if they can.

Organisers say the vests have become a sign of solidarity across Europe against globalism and mass migration.

Among the speakers will be the ACT Party's human rights spokesman Stephen Berry.

Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters says one of our representatives at the UN, Craig Hawke, is attending the migration conference in Morocco on behalf of the government.
